so anyways, ashley's new goals, to be achieved by or before my birthday!
- get 10 pages of any of my comics done! (it's going to be the 100, i've decided...)
- actually get cool people christmas gifts for once in my lifetime! (i'm horrible and never actually get anyone anything...perhaps it will change...)
- figure out how photoshop works! (if only so i can utilize it for the most basic of arts...it still perplexes me so at the moment...)
- DRAW! (so much...portfolio lacking...just need to make so much art...)
- get so much figure drawing and observational drawing done!
- fill out my monsterous sketchbook even more, with artist bios and projects and the like...
- have a decently solid portfolio pulled together, as a result of the prior three things...
- get $10,000 towards my education! (impossible, yes...but if i can actually achieve such a thing i'll be halfway to achieving what i'd need for art school by my birthday, which would just kill...i'll be getting a second job, which may help, and applying for scholarships like nobody's business...)
- have everything set to tackle various applications
- try to get over my intense shyness and introversion, or at least live a little more...
and if anyone wants to help out, commission me! or ~the-character-engine! i've gotten much faster at commissions, i could get them done before x-mas...good way to support the artist and get stuff for yourself as well...
thanks!

Life sux sometimes..
But i really wish u the best!! and update ur journal!..so i can see the results!
Good luck!
10 pages! YOU CAN DO IT
About classes, you get a good strong foundation in the fundamental basics (like figure drawing). I hear the foundations classes are better than CCA's. Definitely not a college anyone can BS through.
They're really good about helping students outside of class, and there's free workshops during the week.
Save money on liberal arts by taking them somewhere else and transferring the credits. Luckily, there aren't a lot of bullshit general-ed classes required. Your portfolio would probably waive some classes, too.
Housing in SF is expensive, but if you start looking early and find someone to share with, apartments and studios can come out cheaper than the dorms. I hear craigslist is great for finding housing and jobs.
The city's not that big, and areas can vary just by a few blocks, so do some research on where you'd like to live.
Loads of the students have DA accounts, note me or any one of them and we'll share more dirt on stuff, like teachers we've had, etc. Lol
I wish you so much luck picking out a college!! I hated doing that, omg, and filling out apps... but, it's necessary.
TELL ME EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what sort of liberal-arts classes are required? as i may already have credit in some...unless it varies by course...
how's the illustration program? and teachers? and everything?
and why is there no entrance portfolio review? this has perplexed me since the beginning, as i've never heard of an art school operating in this way...
i'd appreciate any and/or all dirt you or anyone else could tell me, as it would be oh so helpful!
thanks so much!
Art schools are all the same anywhere you go in North Americaaaa. Why spend so much money being an international student.
I heard [link] is useful for finding random scholarships and the such for canadian schools.
and i don't know, i've just found that degrees from schools in the states generally carry people farther than degrees from people around here, and that generally the staff down there is much more esteemed, but please prove me wrong if possible...i guess it all comes down to the art in the end, but it's there that i lack confidence, so it goes...
