the idea of a wind-up little bird, has something to do with a novel of Haruki, which I totally adore.

I have read it, it was quite good, though I'm pretty partial to Hard-boiled Wonderland, at least as far as Murakami goes. Great titles though. Thanks for the comment!

barn swallows are my favorite birds, and believe it or not I had two pieces of art in my inbox about them today. You did a great job capturing the colors and textures of the feathers.
