This was an assignment for my graphic design class, we had to make album art for an existing album. I chose Andrew Bird's Useless Creatures. I used a number of old practically defunct devices to create the creature on the front and then laid them all out on the back, trying to make each item correspond with the song name. The dotted lines on the front are Morse code and I also had a track listing on the inside cover in Morse code. Basically I just got carried away with old seemingly useless things.
All the drawings were done with Micron pens, the rest was done in Photoshop
And for anyone who hasn't heard Andrew Bird I highly recommend his music. The only thing more spectacular than his use of words and his violin skills is his phenomenal whistling abilities. And his socks, if you ever see him live. Useless Creatures is an instrumental album but he has a host of others with vocals that are also well worth checking out. I have a track from Useless Creatures up on my blog if anyone's curious.

I have to make a book jacket in my Commercial arts class right now, but next year I have to design the CD art and album art for an existing album as well. Very creative!
Mannn, I've been wanting a tyepwriter tattoo and I'm so in love with this one you have here... It's just so clean and simple and...cute. Any chance I could get a bigger version of it? I don't mind forking over some money for it or anything.
Yeah, that's definitely reasonable. Should I...send you a note or something about this? I haven't bought anything like this before so...I'm a bit foggy with the details of the whole transaction. Hrm.
