so this is my tribute to vonnegut, one of the most amazing writers ever...
i mean, the box was already almost done, it just needed text...and then he died, and it just needed to be filled with vonnegut...so it is...
this whole project was done on/in a cigar box...i will describe it's three dimensional form from left to right:
1. the front/cover of the box, with some balloons and the twirly branch design inspired by *
testdrive, who is oh so good at it...the banner says "Goodby Blue Monday", which is from Breakfast of Champions (which i still need to read...) --> fine-tipped sharpie, sticker paper
2. the spine of the box, with the rest of the plantness spilling over the side...
3. the inside cover of the box, with the closest i will ever get to a self-portrait(i got lazy with the two part scan)...the bird coming out of the pencil does go onto the other side but refused to scan, so just imagine it...and the bird says "Poo-Tee-Weet" from Slaughterhouse Five--->ballpoint pen, sticker paper
4. the actual inside of the box...and since none of the photographs worked, i had to scan in each separate piece and put it together in photoshop, but essentially it's supposed to be staggered in depth, with the stiltwalkers/crown at the bottom of the box and the four-eyed boy at the top...then there's also the hat boy and the very very sad violinist...and the two flags which read "See the cat? See the cradle?" from Cat's Cradle --- ballpoint pen, sticker paper, bristol paper, glue
overall, i'm really happy with how this project turned out, as monstrous as it was...hope you guys like it too...
everything but text and cigar box company (c) me
Just one little thing...I think that boy is holding his violin on the wrong side.
But i like a lot the balloons
Much like this. <3
thank you!
