...i endured three shutdowns (due to overheating), multiple saves, many arguments with photoshop, and the ever apparent rattling of my computer fan (assisted with another fan and an icepack in attempts to prevent overheating) to put this online...

this is a birthday present for :iconradioblur: ...happy birthday mitch! thanks for being a wonderful and amazing person, friend and collaborator!
the picture itself is a semi-abstract interpretation of the prince from our comic at ~TeamCl-17 ...who swaps his crown of gold for a crown of magnificent birds...i just put wings in here, no actually apparent birds, but i like how it turned out anyways...

g2g before my comp crashes...

pencil, watercolour, gouache, colour ink, marker, pen etc.

I'll document any exciting new developments in my log, along with pages and pages of meaningless doodles. -- Captain Olimar

:iconsoqtwenurhsedated:
how did you get the negative space between his hair and the paint ?
this is extremely well done.

i had a rusty spade
but im not the fighting sort
if i was samson id find that harlots blade
and cut my own hair short !
then in a market dimly lit
i come casually to pay
you see my coins are counterfeit
but accept them anyway
:icontheumbrella:
i traced the drawing of the crown and made a cutout of it, which i glued on with absolutely terrible quality glue so it would come off when i needed it to...thus, all the paint got on the cutout, not the lowely space beneath it...masking fluid probably would have been more efficient, but i lost my masking pen and my bottle of it is so thick it wrecks my brushes...
thanks!

i thought it would be something like that.
the effect is breathtaking.
your whole gallery is wonderful, by the way
